CATCHING FIRE IS BACK!

Now that we have completed our Narrative Essay, we are returning to
CATCHING FIRE!!!!!!!!

Here is the catch.  You will be reading silently and actively.

What does that mean?
That means that while you are reading silently you will be "thinking" and "questioning" and "synthesizing" everything that is happening page by page.

How are you going to do this?
First I will model how to do this.
Then we will do it together as a class.
Finally, you will do it on your own.

Why are you doing this?
You need to be able to comment and question while you read, (Also to answer your own questions)
When you actively read like this, you are analyzing and evaluating.
This is important because you are READING CLOSELY and EXAMINING to understand
every little detail.

How does this help you?
When you learn how to actively read, you understand more.
This is a skill you need for the rest of your life, not just in school.

WRITING PROMPT

Here is your writing prompt, exactly the way we have it in class so that you will not get confused.

Imagine that for one day you could trade places with anyone you choose. The person could be real or imaginary, from the past or from the present. In a well-developed composition, identify the person you would want to trade places with, explain why you would like to trade places with this person, and describe how your day would be different as this person.
