Catching Fire, MCAS, Thinking......

Here is the latest.   All of my students do SO well in class with MCAS questions but not so well on the actual test. Why?

I need my students to see that they all have the ability to do very well on the MCAS because they do it in class everyday. Take the skills we learn in class when we read Catching Fire---the questions that we ask, all the analyzing that we do, putting yourself in the position of the character---and use these skills EVERYWHERE, including MCAS.

That is our goal.

Hope everyone had a great mini vacation.

And now we are in the very intense part of the year with only a couple of months to go before MCAS. 

There are a variety of things we will be covering this week. First is the ELA 2nd Qtr. Assessment to see how you are doing with analysis and close reading of the text.

The next thing coming your way is the ELA Cumulative test on Weds and Thurs this week.

Between all that, we will finish up our re-writes on our Open Response to Chapter  3 of Catching Fire. Some students still need to take Wordly Wise Chapter 5 test, and eveyone still needs to work on Wordly Wise Chapter 6.

That was a lot. Ok...breath.
